Fennec fox
The fennec fox are 2-3 lb. Their ears are around 6 inches long, they can also be great pets because they can be easily trained and very affectionate. They purr when they are happy and are very social animals they can be in a pack with 10 other foxes. The fennec fox must be warm at all times, they will shiver if it goes below 68 degrees. Fennec foxes are very good climbers and can dig up to 20 feet underground a night. When the fennec fox is startled it can leave a musky smell coming from their tail. They can live up to 14 years in captivity if well cared for. Fennecs can eat fruits, raw meat, veggies, crickets, mealworms, eggs, along the side of their regular diet. They are found in the Sahara of North Africa, its pretadors are the eagle owl, caracals, jackals, striped hyenas, and the saluki. The coat is usaully a cream colour and fluffy, which deflects heat during the day and keeps the fennec foxes warm during the night.
bat-eared fox
The bat-eared fox is named for its ears obviously, this breed of fox apeared 800,000 years ago during the middle Pleistocene. Its average body length is 55cm with ears 13 cm long. The most bat-eared foxes apear is in Africa near the southern regions including southern Zambia, Angola and South Africa. It mostly stays near short grass fields to locate its prey. Most of their diet is harvester termites, when they can't find them they also eat ants, beetles, crickets, grasshopers, millipedes, moths, scorpions, and sometmes birds, small mammals and reptiles. They have 1-6 pups and it takes 60-70 days for the female to gestate and give birth. After the pups are born the males take over grooming, defending, huddling, chaperoning, and carrying the pups between den sites. The females are called vixens and the males are called reynard, todd or dog. A group of bat-eared foxes are called a leash or skulk. they live up to 14 years, they have 48 sharp narrow teeth and also have packs up to 6 family foxes. The bat-eared fox is referred to a bat because of large pointed ears, and short narrow mouth making them resemble, they have yellowish-brownish fur and a black face with a grey forehead. The bat-eared fox hunts at night because it is nocturnal, they usually hunt when the air is cooler but sometimes are out in the day.
arctic fox
The Arctic fox also known as the white fox, polar fox, or snow fox has a deep thick fur which is brown in the summer and white in the winter. Its average size is usually 85.3 cm in body length, it has a round body to keep heat. They eat any small animal it can find like lemmings, voles, ringed seal pups, fish, and bird eggs. They will also eat carrion, berries, and seaweed. They have a average of five to eight pups, but could have up to 25 pups. The mother and father both raise the pups, the females leave the family and form there own groups and the males stay with the family. The litters are born early in the summer, and are raised in a large den. The pups are a brownish colour and turn white as they get older. They use to live up to 15 years but because of poaching and global warming it is three to seven years. The Arctic foxes predators are the tundra wolf and sometimes polar bears, sometimes the pups can be snatched up by snowy owls and golden eagles. The Arctic fox is found all over the Arctic, including the outer edges of Greenland, Russia, Canada and Alaska.
